Why Celebrities are Fascinated with Jade Rollers?

Making the next move to step up your beauty routine can be stressful. You are probably considering a few products out there already but before you hit the Shop Now button, adding a Jade Roller to your skin care routine is the celebrity-backed recommendation that you shouldn’t turn down at this decisive moment.

Models, actresses, TV personalities, music artists and their makeup artists equally swear by the jade roller’s ability to tone the skin, decrease facial puffiness and inflammation and encourage the elimination of toxins. Victoria Beckham, Gwyneth Paltrow, Kim Kardashian, Daisy Lowe, the newly crowned Duchess of Sussex Meghan Markle and Alicia Keys are reported fans.

New York facialist Ling Chan who uses the jade rollers for her model clients Miranda Kerr, Behati Prinsloo and Dree Hemmingway, says the facial massagers are fantastic. "Just as exercise can tone your body, the jade roller can tone your face,” she explained. She raved about their ability to clear fluid, boost circulation, improve elasticity, and promote cell turnover for a brighter, healthier look, according to Vogue Magazine.

Grammy winner singer and composer Alicia Keys is also among the celebrities who use the jade roller as part of her routine. In an interview with WMagazine, her makeup artist Dotti shared how she uses the roller to tighten her skin.

“I stick a jade roller in ice, so it’s basically freezing when I roll it over her skin. I really, really work into all those areas where I want blood and water and energy brought to the surface. It brings her skin to life, it practically makes her skin say, 'Hi. I love you.'”

Beckham has made it a part of her daily routine. "Afterwards, I like to use a jade roller to really contour it into my face."

Since their popularity increased in 2016, the rollers have also gained the interest of beauty bloggers like Marianna Hewitt who has nearly 300,000 subscribers in Youtube and reportedly draw thousands of eyes to the Jade Roller after posting a tutorial video to her YouTube account in July 2017, according to the LA Times.

The technique of jade rolling has many visible results. By manually stimulating the tissue jade rolling drains lymphatic fluids, increases circulation and elasticity, and stimulates collagen production.

But just how do you use it?

In Traditional Eastern Medicine, Jade is a stone used to relax the nervous system, bring relief to stressed organs, and gentle detoxification. The facial massagers date back to the 7th century in China.

STEP 1

You can place the jade roller in an ice bath or refrigerator before using it to boost the effects. This method is recommended to address puffiness and reduce dark circles under the eyes

STEP 2

Before beginning your rolling session clean and/or exfoliate your face and apply your serum or moisturizer of choice. The roller brings the blood to the surface of your skin which enables your skin to absorb the topical products more efficiently.

STEP 3

Roll from the middle of the face outwards. Use the bigger of the two stones for the chin, cheeks, nose and forehead. Use broad, gentle sweeps, always work away from the nose area. Roll across the forehead, cheeks, jaw and neck. Place on your nose and rock gently in vertical direction then roll away from the nose to the edge of your face to clear congested sinuses. Congestion tends to accumulate in the jaw line so rock the jade roller in that area.

Use the smaller stone to massage the area around the eyes.

STEP 4

Roll the massager on your temples to ease headaches and stress or when you need an extra de-puff.

Use several times a week or every day for optimal results. Just 2 minutes per day show immediate results in a matter of days but the longer the better! Enjoy the vitality of your newly pampered skin!
